![]() ![]() Take Fallout for example, yes 3 and NV had paid DLC's, but they were again isolated games (although I think they did a bit of a scummy thing with the DLC that let you keep playing after the end of 3). They were also at a cut price versus the vanilla base game. I mean microtransactions were only a thing in GTA since GTA five right? Yeah, GTA 4 had two paid DLCs, but they were effectively fully fledged games just re-using a huge dense map that the original title didn't fully explore. The worst thing is that the ownership / corporate management level is seeing this trend in other games like EA titles, and pushing for it in games that traditionally would not have any microtransactions. Then I think hold on, I have already paid sixty odd quid for this - what has effectively become an NFT trading pretend stock market. Still, I find myself thinking, maybe i'll just buy £20 of fifa points here or there. But my god, i am lucky to have great internet but the rubberbanding, disconnects, 'initilisation' lag is rendering the mode unplayable. I used to think the "EA servers bad" thing was just a meme. Everything in that mode is designed with continued revenue generation in mind. The ultimate team aspect is nothing short of predatory. I am a football (soccer) fan, and the only dog in the fight is EA/FIFA. The push towards games-as-service, increased mobile app integration alongisde the push towards microtransactions in full price AAA games is anti consumer in that it is no longer about making a quality game, but a quality continual revenue stream for the publisher. Vote with your wallet, inform others not to buy into this crusty-shit, and support indies. ![]() You can't blame the people buying it - they don't know any better! A lot of them are young people with their first jobs, and they've grown up with the toss that gets released these days! The buggy, badly performing, microtransaction heavy shit-shows? That shit is NORMAL to them!ĪAA publishers can get fucked. It makes me so miserable seeing my favourite hobby get turned to trash because of dickhead publishers. You get about the same amount of great games that came out over the course of the last 3 years as you do in just ONE year of the early 2000's. just generally not all that revolutionary. Not only are some of the "big" games coming out genuinely bad, utterly atrocious, broken, shallow, dogshit pieces of festering, year old wank, but they're also. Go do a Google search of what games came out in 2004, all the way through to 2010 and you'll be disbelief at how many truly incredible titles released all in the same fucking year. You know what's super fucking depressing? Man these days almost all AAA games are garbage. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
